ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1970 with B Sc. Programme, later in 1994 post-graduate programme was introduced with specialization in organic chemistry and polymer chemistry as elective subjects.

The aim of the department is to provide quality education to youngsters so that they can contribute in the development of the nation. Our aim is not only to give theoretical knowledge but also to provide the student’s exposure to developing society so they can build their future in a better way.

The department of chemistry is one of the leading departments of sciences which has excellent infrastructural facilities and a dedicated and committed group of teachers. The department has made a significant impact in various areas of research and teaching and continues to strive for excellence.

The department consists of four full-time faculty members. Department has one laboratory assistant and two technical staff members. The department has received grants for research from UGC minor / major research projects.

To explore chemistry concepts in response to challenges and problems faced by sciences, society, and industry.

MISSION

To awaken young minds of chemists to discover their talents both in theory and practical through dedication to teaching, commitment to students, and innovative instructional methods.

GOALS

  1. Development of analytical skills, and soft skills among the students.
  2. Enhance the chemistry knowledge and Build confidence among the students.
  3. Enhance services to the community.
  4. Make collaboration with industries to experience actual working experience.
  5. Creating an educational environment and helping students for Achieving their goals.

  8. Faculty participation in Refresher courses, FDP, Orientations & Induction Programmes.
  9. Department is doing some micro scale level practical which saves a lot of chemicals.
  10. Educational Tour to National Institutes and Industries.
  11. Mentoring of students through Mentor – Mentee scheme.
  12. Teachers and Students’ participation in different extension activities like NSS, NCC, Cultural etc.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND FACILITIES

The Department of Chemistry is housed in Science building on Ground Floor with well furnished specious laboratories. Laboratories are well equipped to cater the requirements of the students as per RTM Nagpur University syllabus.

Research (Project and Patent)

The Department of Chemistry staff has completed two projects funded by UGC. Also Department has two Patents. The Faculty has published more than 50 research papers and 18 books.
