Department of Chemistry, Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol Organizes Innovative “Mehndi Challenge” and “Chem Walk” Competitions

*Katol:* The Department of Chemistry, Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol, organized two innovative competitions, “Mehndi Challenge” and “Chem Walk,” on 21 and 22 August 2026 on the occasion of National Chemistry Day. The activities were organized with the objective of developing students’ interest in Chemistry, creativity, and scientific outlook.

Through the Mehndi Challenge, students creatively depicted various concepts of Chemistry, chemical symbols, atomic structures, molecular structures, and other chemistry-related artistic ideas on their hands using mehndi. The activity provided a beautiful blend of science and art.

Similarly, in the Chem Walk, students presented attractive costumes based on various concepts and scientific elements of Chemistry, giving the subject an artistic and innovative dimension. Students participated enthusiastically in both activities and effectively presented scientific concepts through their creative performances.

The winners were awarded first, second, and third prizes, along with consolation prizes. All participants were also presented with certificates and attractive gifts.Dr. Damayanti Ghagargunde and Mrs. Patil served as judges for both competitions.

The successful organization of the programme was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Principal Dr. Sunil Kumar Navin, Head of the Department Dr. Nilesh Gandhare, Prof. Nilesh Jadhao, Prof. Kailas More, Dr. Manish Yeole, Prof. Disha Bandre, Prof. Akansha Pawar, Prof. Kalyani Kuduple, Dr. Shivani Thakur, Prof. Alka Puri, and Prof. Pushparaj Bhuyar.

The non-teaching staff of the department, Mr. Sudesh Ramavat, Mr. Shailesh Mendhe, and Mr. Lochan Raut, also extended valuable support in organizing the programme. The office bearers of the Chemistry Club and the B.Sc. and M.Sc. Chemistry students also participated enthusiastically and contributed significantly to the success of the activities.

These innovative activities provided students with an opportunity to look at Chemistry not merely as an academic subject but as a creative fusion of art, science, innovation, and imagination. The initiatives organized by the Department of Chemistry, Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol, were widely appreciated at various levels.
